Gümüşlük Trip

First let me give you a brief info about the City. Bodrum is a city on the Bodrum Peninsula, stretching from Turkey's southwest coast into the Aegean Sea. It has a area of 650 km². The city features twin bays with views of Bodrum Castle. This medieval fortress was built partly with stones from the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, completed in the 4th century B.C. The city is also a gateway for nearby beach towns and resorts. consisting of countless small bays and 11 main attraction points such Gümüşlük, Bitez, Gölköy, Türkbükü, Torba etc. There are publicly and privately owned marinas, and beatiful saling possibilities. Not only the sea food but local green herbs are also very famous in this side of the country.

The peaceful village of Gumusluk is one of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum peninsula.  It stands on the site of the ancient Carian city of Myndus whose seafront sections slid into the sea in some long-forgotten earthquake. Today these remains are a magnet for snorkerlas, in 2006 one hundred archaeologists descended on Gumusluk to start excavating the land, so far they have uncovered further walls and mosaics. A small fishing village on the western coast of the Bodrum Peninsula, Gümüslük is a popular choice for a day trip from Bodrum with its scenic promenades and rocky coves. Quieter and less developed than many of the region’s other coastal towns, Gümüslük is best known for its fresh seafood, secluded sandy beaches and the offshore Rabbit Island (Asar Adasi), which can be reached on foot from the mainland by wading through knee-deep sea waters.

Today Gumusluk retains a small-scale, relaxed and magical atmospheree thanks to strictly enforced building prohibitions, designed to protect the ancient site. The charming flower-bedecked houses follow the curve of a small and pretty bay. Gumusluk is the perfect antidote for modern-day living, it’s a great place to unwind in an idyllic setting. The wonderful shelter of the bay provides a natural harbor for yachts and local fishing boats, the waterfront restaurants enjoy a reputation for excellent fresh fish amongst the Turks as far away as Istanbul. Gumusluk is famed amongst many famous Turkish actors, artists and musicians who frequent the bay during the summer months.
